From Distant Streets
In the exhibition “From Distant Streets,” curator and in-public photographer Richard Bram has gathered together the work of 29 photographers, including 14 members of in-public, at Galerie Hertz in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, from 2 October-14 November 2011 as part of the Louisville Photo Biennial.
Working around the globe in a multitude of styles but with one common thread, these photographs are of unposed, unrehearsed reality. Street Photography is thus Non-Fiction: Its concerns are much smaller but equally important, the little-noticed nuanced moments of everyday life. It is seeking the unusual in the everyday: As in-public member Nick Turpin puts it, “Good Street Photographs show you something you still would not have seen had you been there.”
