    Founded 2000

  • iN-PUBLiC was set up in 2000 to provide a home for Street Photographers. Our aim is to promote Street Photography and to continue to explore its possibilities, we are a non commercial collective. All the photographers featured here have been invited to the group because they have the ability to see the unusual in the everyday and to capture the moment.

iN-PUBLiC was relaunched in 2020 with a renewed commitment to present the best photography from the public realm that faithfully records everyday life without staging or manipulation.

Today an image selected by @nilsjorgensen_ for the Today an image selected by @nilsjorgensen_ for the iN-PUBLiC Flickr pool by Barry Delaney. This image, taken at the 40ft swimming area in Dublin features nearly 50 young people, a scene that could have been incredibly chaotic has been made orderly and composed by the photographers camera. Within the busy scene there are gorgeous little dramas, interactions, details and moments. At the centre of the frame in a small space, a girl, hand on her chest, faces us opened mouthed. She creates a visual entry point and anchor for the mass of activity swirling around her. The composition allows for a series of boys silhouetted against the sky, one about to jump towards the calm sea and straight horizon where a distant ship passes. Our eye doesn’t know where to look first, so many expressions, gestures and relationships to enjoy, all beautifully spaced and presented. This expansive tableau demonstrates what great street photography can be, something for us all to to aspire too. Follow @thebaz_dublin #streetphotography #canpubphoto #in_public_streets
For his book 'Mediterranean. The Continuity of Man For his book 'Mediterranean. The Continuity of Man', iN-PUBLiC member Nick Hannes took this picture of topless dancers being surreptitiously photographed at a night club in Ibiza, Spain. The book took four years to shoot involving visits to 21 countries. "this series juxtaposes parallel realities and paradoxes of the Mediterranean region, focusing on various contemporary issues such as mass-tourism, urbanization, migration, conflict and crises of various kinds" Follow @nick.hannes #streetphotography #canpubphoto #in_public_streets
iN-PUBLiC member Natan Dvir took this picture on F iN-PUBLiC member Natan Dvir took this picture on Feb26th 2012 on 5th Avenue in New York, it was part of his superb series of images 'Coming Soon' that juxtapose the glamour and aspiration of advertising with the drab reality of daily life. The images are shot from across the road in a beautifully uniform way that gives the project a wonderful consistency. Each picture is shot straight on, not at an angle, and in each the horizon is low in the frame allowing the advertising figures to tower over passing New Yorkers. A clever study that reveals New Yorkers as well as the commercialisation of public space. As a group iN-PUBLiC is keen to broaden the interpretation of what is and what isn't Street Photography whilst maintaining it's documentary traditions. London based iN-PUBLiC member Richard Baker shoots London based iN-PUBLiC member Richard Baker shoots constantly, street scenes, unfolding newsworthy events and also around his daily life, his neighbourhood and on holiday. This scene from Beccles Quay on the East Anglian coast in the UK leaves a lot for the viewers imagination, is it a fun family moment or a washed up corpse? The ambiguity is delicious. Taken from a nice vantage point we see the figures arranged diagonally across the frame watched by a group of inquisitive young girls and their mother. What is the story? does it matter? The wonderful choreography of random strangers cur The wonderful choreography of random strangers curated by iN-PUBLiC member @StreetMax21 give his images a unique look in the world of Street Photography "The architecture becomes incidental to a scene or situation that may or may not evolve within it. I tend to look for sites or places where people pass through without congregating. To begin with, if there is one figure or two or more figures who are positioned apart, I’ll wait until they’re joined by others in the hope that they’ll create a spatial and enigmatic dialogue".
