“Nearing the end of my year spent pacing the cap “Nearing the end of my year spent pacing the capital's pavements (long legs, lengthy stride), I'm mulling over another 12 months of personal work.

Specifically, here is a sequence of pictures - a sketch of four taken within thirty seconds in the City of London yesterday, 9th December.

A couple are in the process of deciding how to make a memento for themselves. They then decide it should be of each other. Me as the photographer of them, the photographed, who photograph the sculpture, then themselves. A shifting choice of how they wish their day to be remembered.

While the singular pictures I often show are more likely to be isolated in their own time-frame, they may also be one of serial moments where I have persisted, held my nerve, revealing tiny pieces of extra-chronology.

These micro-stories unfold over seconds or minutes without warning. The hardest bit is being ready for absolutely anything. Interrupt the sequence and, although it exists temporarily in the real world, the entire narrative is lost to the permanency of the photograph. Not that this is ever foremost in my mind at the time. It's more about hanging on in there so by the end frame (once I’ve established what it is), I've held true to the end of the sentence, the visual full stop.”

Based in India Subhran says "I keep searching for stories the moment I step out of my house no matter if I am carrying a camera or not". This frame is nicely divided into areas, we have fish, we have a couple and we have a beach view but it also has lovely contrasts of scale, big figures, a giant hand with a ring, cast iron chains and a whole misty peninsula complete with distant moored boat. There is a nice echo between the fish and the couple but the picture doesn't rely on that juxtaposition alone. This intense pictures is by George Kuttner who lives in The Bronx, New York. The artificial light instils this shot with the quality of a film still, it looks colour graded for the movies. The moment itself is intimate and personal, we are intruding on a relationship, one that is close and trusting. The picture doesn't feel like a traditional Street Photograph in that it is closely cropped with few elements but it has that element we love, a moment. Pau is one of the great Street Photography talents to have emerged over the last decade, a natural talent with a very instinctive approach to making street images. His work is full of humorous and surreal moments plucked effortlessly from the public realm. “PHOTOGRAPHY IS BASICALLY A GAME FOR ME, I PLAY STREET PHOTOGRAPHY, AND THE CITY, ITS PEOPLE, ITS SIGNS, A SHADOW, A TREE, OR SOME TRASH….ANYTHING CAN HAVE A STARRING ROLE IN THIS GAME” #streetphotography #in_public_streets #canpubphoto #paubuscato @paubuscato
Today an image selected by @nilsjorgensen_ for the Today an image selected by @nilsjorgensen_ for the iN-PUBLiC Flickr pool by Barry Delaney. This image, taken at the 40ft swimming area in Dublin features nearly 50 young people, a scene that could have been incredibly chaotic has been made orderly and composed by the photographers camera. Within the busy scene there are gorgeous little dramas, interactions, details and moments. At the centre of the frame in a small space, a girl, hand on her chest, faces us opened mouthed. She creates a visual entry point and anchor for the mass of activity swirling around her. The composition allows for a series of boys silhouetted against the sky, one about to jump towards the calm sea and straight horizon where a distant ship passes. Our eye doesn’t know where to look first, so many expressions, gestures and relationships to enjoy, all beautifully spaced and presented. This expansive tableau demonstrates what great street photography can be, something for us all to to aspire too. Follow @thebaz_dublin #streetphotography #canpubphoto #in_public_streets

At iN-PUBLiC we are constantly on the look out for new photographers to feature on the site. However we are also keen to maintain a very specific style of observed street imagery. We place great importance on the ability to edit work but if we like what we see we will certainly want to see more. We are all photographers and love looking at pictures.

We are looking for photographers with a confident and consistent vision who make pictures in the public realm that are unstaged and unmanipulated. Photographers who are pushing the boundaries of what is traditionally considered Street Photography whilst maintaining its documentary integrity go to the front of the queue.
