Who?
My name is Dhruv Dhakan, 26yrs old, born and brought up in Ahmedabad, india. Studied Computer IT, used to be a telecom engineer and today I own and run a small printing Business. Photography always happens in between all of it. A year later and i’ll add couple of more lines to this question, maybe in months or even days. Who knows ?
Where?
I was in Dubai, working as a telcom engineer full time. I remember clearly that i had no clue about photography then. My uncle had a nikon D60 in his closet, eating dust. One of the weekends, i thought of taking few photos of my cousin as we were about to go out. A 70-300mm sigma lens and a 18-55kit lens, we made a lot of images. The experience was so good that i made it a hobby every weekend to go out and shoot. 2 years later i decided to pursue it professionally and for the reason came back to India, Ahmedabad my hometown.
When?
It almost feels right. Photography today has become very personal to me. Some of my favourite images have been made while being at something else completely space wise, as I am not out looking for anything but at the same time i find something that surprises me. Saying that i love working on a set of images or per say personal projects, an assignment that demands concentration on a particular idea or aspect. It’s always fun experimenting, the more i have opened up to photography in general and not limited by any idea or thought the more happier i have found myself to be.
What?
Anything and everything or nothing at all to stretch it further, it doesn’t matter. I’d like to think about myself to be able to photograph anything, if it feels right you simply register it with the image. The idea is to be able to respond with as much transparency as possible.
Why?
Because It’s one of the only expressive outlet/form i have control over and believe me i am not saying this proudly. Sadly i can’t dance, draw or play. Also through this medium i have met some amazing people, some of my best and worst life experiences have been through them. One would only want to explore it further. Currently this visual form comes very naturally to me, and i want to cherish it as much as i can. Everything else can happen in between or around it.
